Grace is free... but it's not cheap.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is always offered to us freely. It is a gift. It costs nothing. But it is not cheap. We have been bought through the most precious thing in the whole universe: the blood of Christ. So our salvation is free. But is immensely costly. Church is free... but it's not cheap. We don't charge for anything we do. We want to offer the gospel of grace as freely as we have received it. And so everything we do is free. Church is free. But what we do is costly. It costs money. We want to be good and careful stewards of all the resources God gives us: people and time as well as money. But if we want to do things well and offer the gospel to all free of charge, it will cost us.
